Women are valued

By Sarah Luyendyk

Editor, the Gauntlet,

I am wanting to comment on the pink posters of a man in his ginch that were distributed around the campus. Unfortunately, they were taken down before too many people saw what it had to say. The poster advocated equality for women.

I want to commend the person or people who took a stand.

Music, television and advertisements tend to depict women as sex objects. This is wrong. It degrades women and we are merely supposed to stand by and accept it. It needs to stop.

I want to tell all women they are valued. It is not because of what we do or possess but because of who we are. We are all human beings and all have equal value and worth and deserve to be treated with respect. The only way we can change these attitudes is if we take a stand.

It begins with individual changes of attitude.
