[Re: October 13th editorial]
As promised last spring, these [“brown bag lunch”] sessions were set up some time ago and Dr. Weingarten plans to have at least one a month for the rest of the academic year. While students are well represented in the major decision-making bodies on campus–The Board of Governors, Senate, GFC and so on–as well as a number of committees such as the University Budget Committee and the University Planning Committee, Dr. Weingarten feels it is important to have more opportunities to meet students informally.
These brown bag sessions are not public forums, but rather opportunities to meet with students in small groups to ensure a candid, open discussion. The students do not represent particular interest groups, there is no pre-set agenda, and the topics are determined by the students.
Dr. Weingarten has also offered to have a brown bag with the Gauntlet staff if they are interested, within the same guidelines.
