The hotly contested Students’ Union Events portfolio is set up for a "good" year, according to the victorious candidates.
"I am so excited for next year!" declared Chris Kerr when the results were posted. "It’s going to be a really good commission; we work really well together."
Current VP Events Alix d’Archangelo was pleased with the election results.
"I always felt that one day Chris would make a good VP Events," she stated. "I wish the poor sucker all the best of luck!" She also con-
gratulated runner-up Tina Pringle on the "ambition that she showed by running as a new face in the election."
"She should be proud of the votes that she received and for giving a strong candidate like Chris a run for his money."
The votes reflected a tough race, with Kerr garnering 1,770 of a total 3,001 votes. This represented a mere 59 per cent of the vote, the closest margin of victory of all the executive races.
Kerr said his first major project would be planning U of C 101 and the Welcome Back Week in September for returning students.
The two commissioners new to the SU agreed with Kerr’s "good" year prediction.
"The other commissioners are people I was hoping to work with; people that are really passionate, so it’s going to be great," said newly-elected commissioner Sarah Richards.
Irene Enyedy was equally excited.
"I’m really pumped. I don’t know what to say," said a flustered Enyedy. "I’m very excited about working for the SU and doing a good job next year. We’ve got a great team."
Events commissioner Oliver Ho was elected for a third term. Cross-
over Jon Larsen will quit the Academic commission for a stint with the Events portfolio.
