Fall recap

By Kris Kotarski

You didn’t think we’d let the fall teams off without grading them, did you? The football, field hockey, cross country and soccer teams can’t get off that easy.

Let’s start with the football team. Coach Fasano’s troops had a 6-2 season and dominated the Canada West conference during regular season play. An early playoff exit at the hands of the eventual Vanier Cup finalist Regina Cougars was a disappointment and earned the Dinos a B.

The men’s soccer team got a B+. It wasn’t ’cause they were better than the football guys, but ’cause they exceeded all expectations and battled Victoria and UBC for top spot in the Canada West all year long.

Coach Robin Slot’s women’s soccer team got an A-. The undefeted regular season earned the A. The early exit in the playoffs earned the minus.

The field hockey team had their best season in years. Considering their competition, a B- was kind of harsh. We’ll bump them up to a B+.

The cross country team had a rebuilding year after a talented men’s team from 1999 went their seperate ways. The women did a great job to earn the team a B- overall.
