I would like to make it clear that the Department of Political Science was one of the key departments that helped found the Faculty of Social Sciences BA in International Relations. The Department strongly supports the development of this new degree program and hopes that new resources will allow further course coverage. However, the Gauntlet’s account of the number of courses offered by Political Science within the context of this new degree is in error and needs to be corrected. Your story assumes that only five to six senior courses are being offered by the Department. On the contrary, in Fall 2001/Winter 2002, Political Science is offering 15 specific senior courses that are listed in the Faculty BA in International Relations degree program. If one were to add the number of related course sections, this 15 would become 23. If one were to add the number of related specific courses in the current Spring and Summer sessions, the total comes to 36.
Instructors in Political Science have worked very hard in support of this program and I would hope their efforts would be duly recognized.
