Small, cozy and out of the way, Tullamore’s Irish Pub in Kensington is a study in understated
excellence. If you survive the mountainous climb up very steep and narrow stairs, a little jewel of a place awaits you, complete with flagstones and a big black stove. The food comes in big portions at reasonable prices and is always tasty—don’t miss the Poet’s Tubers—and the fish and chippers come in a basket lined with newspaper for a real authentic Irish feel. Hits against them: no Strongbow anywhere and a torturous route to the bathrooms that would challenge the most sure-footed llama. Is it worth holding it? Heck yeah.
