It’s a difficult thing, being beautiful. What’s more difficult however, is judging beauty, but we here at the Gauntlet strive to overcome even the most difficult of obstacles for you, our valued reader.
How do we judge beauty you ask? Well it all starts with the judges. Academic Probation Editor Kyle Young and Sports Editor Mike Attersall sat down and agreed upon a ten point system where a five is considered on par, zero is the Elephant Man and a ten is Angelina Jolie. Once it was determined that their tastes were equivalent, the two brave soldiers set out to find sample populations of ever faculty they could.
Over three days every faculty was graded with the average of the two judges score recorded for each faculty and then the average of the three scores taken for the raw score. This number was then multiplied by a fraction of π to make it look more scientific and produce the final score.
Arbitrary? Not at all. Gauntlet illustrator Sarah Radomsky was brought in to critique the system and found the results to be fair.
