A-
This year’s Dinos field hockey team turned it up a lot higher than we’ve heard from them in a long time. Aside from finishing third in Canada West with three players named to the Canada West All Star Team, the girls shut down our major University of Alberta rivals generating significant respect and self confidence in CIS field hockey. Aussie Head Coach Carl Dalton has a lot to be proud of and the girls are still hoping he returns for next season.
In the brief indoor season, the Dinos took first place in the two largest indoor tournaments in western Canada. In both finals they defeated U of A to take the gold, beating both U of A and U of C alumni teams. The first place finishes are especially awesome because the team was without a head coach and had to rely on their own self discipline and the dedication of co-captains Ashley Raeburn, Kelsey Barrie and Liz Allen to get the players into the gym before 6 a.m. three times a week. Hats off.
An A- for significant improvement and winning when it counts.
