Chicks with sticks
The women hockeysaurs recorded a 4-4 tie against the Grant MacEwan Griffins on home ice Sun., Nov. 16. Melissa Barcelos led the Dinos with two goals and one assist while goalie Tonya Young once again stepped up with 36 saves to the Griffins’ 14. This isn’t false information I’m feeding you, they actually tied a good team. Prior to this weekend they’ve only managed to score points against only the NAIT Ooks and SAIT Trojans. Unfortunately, the women hockeysaurs are still fifth out of six teams in the ACAC.
Chicks that intimidate me
The Lakehead University Thunderwolves hosted the Women’s Championship Cup Wrestling Tournament Nov. 14-15. My question to them and every women’s wrestling team excluding the Simon Fraser University Clan and our very own Dinos is: why show up when you know there are a pair of teams that will eat you alive every time you meet them in competition?
The Clan and the Dinos went head-to-head in the final, with the Dinos ending up on the bottom–but everywhere else, the Dinos destroyed. During the round robin matches, the Dinos women’s wrestling team won 23 of 27 with Memorial University of Newfoundland and the University of Western Ontario losing every match.
They intimidate me now more than ever.
