Don’t apologize

By Matthew Bladek

Editor, the Gauntlet,

Regarding this article, I hardly believe the Gauntlet is at fault. No apologies should be made. If the Women’s Studies majors and Rebecca Sullivan (whom interestingly enough stated in her COMS 201 class that the Janet Jackson nipple fiasco was fueled by conservatives afraid of their own sexuality) are upset, they are welcome to boycott the Gauntlet and read human interest stories in Harvey’s OnCampus. As one of your online posts said, the photo published was taken at an SU event, displaying the different forms of sexuality in this world. Furthermore, it’s not the fault of the media that Honey Houston chose to bare it all within her own school and happened to have it published in her school’s newspaper.

It was great to see an event on campus that was not a punk rock concert catering to high school kids or some event put on by the abrasive Haskanye kids to promote some sort of product. Although VP Events Alex Vyskocil was correct to point out to Global News that the stripper’s stroll through MSC was a “mistake,” the Sexual Health Awareness Week was time and money well spent. Students should be proud that their newspaper won’t censor in the name of keeping a few happy. Stand strong; don’t be intimidated by the vocal few.
