SPUN: Halifax

By Sherri Shergill

New to the music scene, Halifax proves not all punk bands have sold out into mainstream millionaire media. A Writer’s Reference consists of seven tracks which are a fine blend of high energy and talent. Unlike many artists out today, Halifax’s has decent lyrics are worthy of being heard and examined. Which is relieving, considering this is not a band hiding their lyricist behind a lot of heavy sound. The guitar noise is excellent and combined with the drummer’s conviction, creates originality in a world of punk imitation. A Writer’s Reference reveals a mature and promising band through strong vocals and dynamic music.
