This game has 18 fair ways to play

Hey, is that Greg Norman? No. Jack Nicholas? No. Tiger Woods? No. Kevin Costner in Tin Cup? No. Will Smith in Bagger Vance? No. Bill Murray in Caddyshack? No. Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore? No. Give up? It’s the Dinos, and if you haven’t figured out what I’m talking about, it’s golf, dumbass.

The Dinos sent a men’s and a women’s team to the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference South Regional Championship Sept. 23-24. Although the teams played fairly well, they didn’t fare too well results-wise.

The only other ladies team was from Mount Royal College, whose score total of 325 was plenty to beat the Dinos’ 369. Our ladies put out quite an effort though, with Aryn Flette placing third, shooting rounds of 92 and 89, Karla Gustafson overcoming a rough 99 first-round with a valiant 89 the following day to place fifth and Ashley Macdonald shooting 95 and 97 for sixth spot.

The men placed behind Leth-bridge Community College and MRC. Seiji Miyazoe led the way, taking 143 strokes to finish two rounds and placing fourth overall. Just three strokes back from him were Mike Qualle and Mark Rice who tied for seventh.

Mike Bosch, Connor Muldoon and Mike Palacz rounded out the Dino line-up in 15th, 24th and 25th places respectively.

All of the team members are confident they will be able to reduce their stroke tally at their next tournament: the ACAC Provincial Championship Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
