Nominations have closed in this year’s Students’ Union by-election.
Eight candidates will vie to fill vacancies in the contested seats and one seat will be left vacant.
“Nomination activity was relatively busy for a quiet by-election, and faculty representatives were acclaimed for Education, Humanities and Nursing positions,” explained Chief Returning Officer Mike Brown.
Three candidates will vie for the Academic Commissioner vacancy, another three will race to fill the Communications and Culture seat, while two will compete for the Sciences vacancy.
Brown said posters will go up around the faculty soon to recruit someone for the Social Work representative position.
Polling will take place Oct. 11-13. Voting will once again take place through the U of C Infonet. There are manned polling stations in MacEwan Student Centre and the lobby of Social Sciences 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day with extended hours on Wednesday night until 7 p.m. at the MSC location only. Infonet polling hours are the same as regular Infonet hours during the three days.
