Online Exclusive: Men’s Basketball – Dinos clean up over weekend

By Jon Roe

Border b-ball supremacy was decided Sun., Oct. 29 as the Dinos completed their sweep of the pre-season Battle of the Border tournament. The tournament brought together three Alberta teams: the University of Lethbridge, University of Alberta and University of Calgary and matched them against two Montana-based schools, the University of Great Falls-who also brought their Junior Varsity team-and Montana Tech.

The Canadian universities won all but two games, and the Dinos won all three of their match-ups, including a dominating 100–47 victory over the University of Great Falls Junior Varsity team. Alberta and Lethbridge both finished 2–1.

These games were the last of the pre-season for the Dinos, who now move on to start the regular season against the University of Victoria Fri., Nov. 3. They play the University of British Columbia Sat., Nov. 4 before playing their first home games Nov. 10–11 at the Jack Simpson Gym. Friday the Dinos take on the Simon Fraser University Clan and Saturday they challenge the Trinity Western University Spartans.

Both games start at 8 p.m. and entrance is free with a student ID.
