Volleyball

This past weekend, the undefeated University of Calgary men’s volleyball team slammed the University of Manitoba Bisons during a pair of weekend games. The Dinos now lead CW with a 16-0 record and are ranked third in CIS.

The Dinos’ last two games of the season are against the University of Alberta Golden Bears in what will be an Alberta showdown. The Golden Bears, currently ranked second in CW and CIS, are sitting with a 15-1 record, riding an 11 win streak.

This could perhaps be the biggest game of the season because if Calgary wins both games they will finish first place and host the CW men’s volleyball championship. If the Golden Bears win both games, Alberta will finish first.

The women’s volleyball team managed to squeeze out a win over a tough Manitoba Bison team and clinch a post-season spot.

The women’s team is currently in sixth place in CW and will play third-place U of A Golden Pandas this weekend on Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Jack Simpson Gym followed by the men’s games at 8 p.m.
