The Rocky Fortune’s debut release Sway seems to explode through the speakers right from the get-go. The band sought to tap into the classical roots of rock lost among the dime-a-dozen bands of today.
And they have certainly tapped in. The first six tracks on the CD are a treat, including original riffs with strong driving beats leaving you begging for more. However, track seven seems to fall into a trap of complacency, leaving the realm of great music found in the previous tracks to enter a mindless and sterile world where blandness and lackluster sounds are the soup de jour. The full capacity of the band’s producing prowess is seen on track nine, which is quite possibly the best song of the album.
A strong guitar solo combined with lyrics presenting a certain intensity and emotion end off an impressive record.
