Just as talking dirty can be fun, so can punk band Guttermouth.
Covered with Ants is all hyperactive, damn-the-man anthems. The typical punk tracks vary from head-bopping to head-banging intensity, never losing their bouncy energy.
Don’t expect mind-blowing lyrics, or mind-numbing music either. Guttermouth aren’t stuck in the guitar-bass-drum rut of many similar groups; they use a variety of instruments in ways unlike the rest of the punk world.
Towards the end of Covered with Ants the music goes from fun to annoying as the vocals go from singing to strange guttural noises.
Covered isn’t groundbreaking, but the clean music is a fresh break in a genre full of redundant soundalikes.
