Barely wasting any time before going back on tour, the Planet Smashers are ready to bring their skankin’ music to the stage once again.


Playing the Warehouse Tue., Nov. 11, it’s only been six months since their last visit. Back out on tour to support their recently released album, Mighty, the Montreal band will be joined by guests Flashlight Brown and Jesse James.


"In our live show, we really try to make the audience have as much fun as we are having," explains singer/guitarist Matt Collyer. "We’re the entertainers and so it is our job to make sure that everyone’s having fun and enjoying themselves. The more energy we get off the crowd, the more energy we put into our show and it just circulates from there. We are looking forward to getting back out on the road again, it’s a lot of fun."


Mighty was released at the beginning of summer and is the Planet Smashers’ ninth album. The disc features the single "Explosive" and holds its own against other ska albums. Eighteen songs long, the album flows from the same sound found on their previous albums .


"Our sound hasn’t really changed all that much," comments Collyer. "If anything, our sound has become more mature, along with the content. We are still writing about the same things but we have a different perspective on them that’s come with growing up. Our roots and influences are still the same though. I grew up, as cliched as this sounds, listening to the Clash and the Specials and they still have a major impact on the style that we play."


Fun and energetic, the Planet Smashers have gained recognition as one of Canada’s best ska bands. During the busy recent months of punk and ska concerts, the Planet Smashers will definitely be one not too miss. See you in the skank pit.
