Death By Stereo

By Ivan Danielewicz

Death By Stereo is one of the great punk-metal bands of our day, playing music so fast and loud one could almost considered them as a speed metal or hardcore punk band at times.

If you’re trying to imagine a sound, think of metal’s screaming and distortion based on the harmony and roll of punk music.

Into the Valley of Death is Death By Stereo’s third release and second album on the Epitaph Records label. The music on this album is hard, loud and filled with energy. The lighter side of the album comes from the hilarious song titles like “I Wouldn’t Piss in Your Ear if your Brain was on Fire” and “Shh, It’ll Be Our Little Secret.”

Every now and then, though, Death by Stereo begins to fall into a sound similar to System of a Down recording. Not that it’s a bad thing though. This newer album is easily one of the best CDs I’ve heard this year, even though it came out last year.`
