There comes a time in many men’s lives when they must make an important career decision–Hitman or student? Though the choice may never arise for some, those who face it toss and turn through sleepless nights pondering the question.
Two young snipers have recently stumbled upon this crossroad and have chosen the student route–the University of Calgary to be more specific. So don your flak jackets and lay low in September. And above all, if the names Tyrel Lucas or Brett O’Malley are uttered, run like hell.
Though the two will resign as Hitmen for the time being, it is believed they will continue hunting for sport. Mostly, Golden Bears, Pronghorns, Bison and Cougars, but who knows what might happen when the shit hits the fan.
Lucas, blending in at 61 and 170 lbs, escaped two seasons under the Lethbridge Hurricanes by taking refuge in Prince George, BC for a half-season in 2004, which he interrupted with a move to Calgary. Once here, in 30 outings Lucas managed six hits and seven assists during hunting season, adding another six tallies and three assists during the highly lucrative post-hunting season. Lucas is a forward kind of guy, and his dangerous presence will be felt at the U of C quickly.
O’Malley’s record will surely make him the centre of attention. He too spent time under the Lethbridge Hurricanes, making the move to the Calgary Hitmen in 2004. Last season alone, he tallied eight hits and 16 assists. Over the course of his five-year career he is believed to have put away 52 and assisted with 74 tallies, while earning a brag-worthy 250 minutes of jail time. At 5ïž´11 and 168 lbs, he may not jump out of a crowd, but you may want to.
With three and five years of service in the Western Hockey League, Lucas and O’Malley have earned that many years tuition, fees and books through a rewards program offered by the organisation. Watch out for both danger-cats, who will temporarily hang up their Hitmen attire to masquerade as Dinos men’s hockey team members.
