Info in your inbox

Porn links and promises of a bigger penis aren’t the only things filling University of Calgary students’ inboxes this fall.

Beginning Mon., Sept. 12, the Student Life Office launched the new Student Life E-Zine. The monthly email newsletter provides students with information about Student Services and events going on around campus.

“We’re doing this to help students access our services and programs,” explained Assistant Vice- President Student Services Jim Dunsdon.

The e-zine is the result of student focus groups conducted over the summer which identified a need for better communication between the Student Life Office and students. The e-zine also fills a niche not already met by other university publications, according to Dunsdon.

“U-Magazine is a tool for the Calgary community with a fairly heavy focus on research,” explained Dunsdon. “The Student Life E-Zine is designed specifically for students instead of each student service putting out information.”

For students who don’t want anything crowding their inbox further, there is an opt out.

“Students have the choice to subscribe or unsubscribe as they see fit,” said Dunsdon.

Student Services encompasses Student Life, Career Services, Residence Services, Health Services, the Counselling Centre and the Multi-Faith Chaplain’s Centre.
