Mark Counsell is back on the Students’ Legislative Council. The former Operations and Finance Commissioner spent the 2002-2003 academic year away from politics and failed to regain his post in this February’s election.


Counsell replaces acclaimed Academic Commissioner Marie-Claire Backhaus who resigned in May.


After Counsell was sworn in at the Tue., June 3 SLC meeting, SU Vice-President Academic Demetrios Nicolaides confirmed that he “is expecting to receive a resignation shortly.”


In addition, the Students Academic Assembly filled three vacant faculty representative positions on Mon., June 2. Mitesh Thakrar was appointed as the Medicine Faculty Representative, Wilma Shim will become the Kinesiology Faculty Representative, and Jamie-Dee Petersen is the new Education Faculty Representative.
