Over the years, MuchMusic’s Big Shiny Tunes franchise has provided a mainstream rock music compilation featuring songs from current big bands. Determined not to stray from that motif, they have released yet another CD containing the same array of songs each of the previous ones did.
Big Shiny Tunes 8 showcases several number one hits, like Jane’s Addiction’s “Just Because” and Three Days Grace’s “Everything I Hate About You.” Following recent trends in pop punk, MuchMusic has also included songs from several bands like Simple Plan, Sum 41 and A.F.I.
Like each of the previous albums, there are several secondary singles from big name bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nickelback. Also continuing with their support of lesser-known bands, Big Shiny Tunes 8 also contains a song from both The Salads and Trapt.
While this album isn’t for everyone, it contains a pretty good mix of songs that crept through mainstream music at one point or another. Big Shiny Tunes continues to be what it always has been, a compilation CD of songs you probably already downloaded from the Internet, and will probably delete after a few months of listening to them.
